The Gunner's Mates and Yeomen of 7th division were responsible for Weapons Department administration, organization of the ordnance technical library, maintenance and upkeep of all small arms and ammunition, maintenance of shore patrol gear, monthly testing of the magazine sprinkler systems, and maintenance of the current inventories of all shipboard ammunition stores. They also maintained the two saluting guns and the .30 and .50 caliber machine guns.
