Food Services DivisionS-2 Division kept us all fed. From the regular "three squares a day," to the infamous "mid-rats," these guys did amazingly well and took a lot of, usually, undeserved flak for the chow they served. Quoting from the '66-'67 cruise book: "The amount of food required for one meal would startle the average house wife. For example, 1,000 lbs. of fresh potatoes, 80 gals. of soup, 600 lbs. of meat, and 200 loaves of bread are required for one meal." "It is not an unusual day to bake 240 loaves of bread, 1,500 breakfast rolls, 130 pies, and 1,500 servings of cake." They also had to receive, inspect, and store up to 300 tons of food, in eleven different store rooms and refrigerated lockers. Thanks, guys! To send an e-mail, just click on the address provided.
