Incoming Rounds

These photos attest to the fact that life at sea can get to be exciting at times.  Those of us who were there, remember this day well.

During a shore bombardment mission, on March 2, 1967, Canberra was struck by counter battery fire from ashore.  We sustained with two hits on the port side amidships and some minor shrapnel damage from near misses, on the starboard side.

A very rare photo, indeed.  Alan Dalrymple (IC3) took this shot and was luck, in more ways than one.  Tuner mentions this in an article in the Sea Stories section.  (AD)
