Welcome to the Sea Story Locker.  All of us who served at sea have inherited the traditions of the ancient mariners.  One of those traditions is the sharing of experiences through "sea stories."   This is where all you old salts can tell the other swabs and landlubbers about how much seawater has passed under your keel and all those wonderful liberties you'll never forget.

So, all of you crusty old sea critters, swagger on over, belly up to the bar, and weave a tale or two for your shipmates.  Just think about this little twist; "I remember back in oh two" is NOW!......

Whether it's a fairy tale or a sea story, here's your chance to tell it, again.  Remember the difference between a fairy tale and a sea story?  If you don't, click on "Swabbie."

Speaking of the Mess Decks, click on the button to try out our new chat room.  This is a new feature and it really works!!!  Send an e-mail to a buddy and schedule a BS session on the mess decks.

How to use the Sea Stories feature.

The Table of Contents shows the titles of all the posted sea stories. Notice that the articles are displayed in outline fashion. This helps to show the relationship between an article and the subsequent replies/responses. Selecting a title will cause the corresponding story to be displayed.

You may also:

  • View the Table of Contents
  • Post a new article (starting a new thread)
Tip: You'll find it much easier to compose your tale in your word processor or text editor, first.  Say what you want to say and make whatever "adjustments," like spell checking.  Then, copy the text from your editor into the Comments section of the discussion form, when you are ready to post it.  It's easier to work with and you have a better shot at saving a good story to the site.
  • Search the articles for a word or pattern
As the number of tales found here increases, you will find this feature more useful.  Use it to find a specific word or phrase that relates to the topic you are looking for.

In addition, each article has links to let you reply to it (continue the thread) and navigate the article list.
